1931 Gee Bee Sportster -
This beautiful IMAA legal model is an awesome rendition of the 1931 NR718Y Gee Bee Sportster
Model "Y". It was originally built with a 250 HP engine, and was later swapped to a Wright Whirlwind
450hp engine. In 1933, while being flown in an air race by Florence Killingsmith, it suffered
wing covering damage and was destroyed. It was one of the most famous of it's breed, and has now been
beautifully recreated in this 84" span ARF. Don't let the reputation of some GeeBee's bad handling
lead you away from this kit...this baby is a docile beast with gentle handling and great flight
performance.
The photo on the right shows one of the elevator servos, and the pre-formed rudder pull-pull
cables. This kit is beyond what one typically expects in an ARF... full oleo strut-type suspension,
telescopic wheel pants and suspension fairings, pre-built rudder cables, scale dash insert,
wheels with aluminum hubs, awesome fiberglass cowling, dummy engine insert, built-in right and
down thrust in the motor box, and much more. As with the rest of our ARF's, this kit is professionally
cut & assembled, and beautifully covered. Check out these specs:
